I love learning new things. Always reading, studying the latest published books, and my newest favorite pastime—listening to XM
radio's educational programs on spirituality and enlightenment.Today on XM radio I heard someone say, "True discovery is seeing the same landscape through new eyes." This was
EXACTLY what I was trying to convey to an acquaintance recently but couldn't get her to see that this explained why I'm so studious. She kept telling me, "You don't need to read books or study anything
to learn about life or find your passion…all your answers are within…you just need to meditate more…"--yada yada yada.
She was too closed to hear anything besides her own
"wisdom." And because she was older and "wiser," more "mature" and more "enlightened," I was faced with giving her the power to be more "right." I, however, disagreed with her.
Sometimes people need to hear words voiced differently before the light bulb goes off. Sometimes discovering what we already know to be true is clarified by another's story, another's point of view,
another's voice. Sometimes it is only through reading or conversation with a good friend that our own beliefs are strengthened or our own reality fortified. Sometimes challenging what is innate
IS the way for some to accept that what's within is really OK. Through my daily meditation time (which clearly she didn't know about), I have learned that "all your answers are within" is equivalent to
"seeing the same landscape," but "through new eyes" true discovery CAN be found.
