An ancient Sanskrit mantra, or
meditation focus, is "Häm Säh." These words are supposed to remind the meditator of the sound of the incoming and outgoing breath: "Häm" as one breathes in, "Säh" as one breathes out.
"Häm" means "I am."
"Säh" refers to the inner self, the Divine Spark. Any short phrase will do as a meditation focus, either secular or religious.
All forms of meditation, in which the mind becomes quiet and focused, elicit
an innate physiological response which is the opposite of the body's stress or fight-or-flight response. Belly breathing is an important cornerstone of the relaxation response and although any word will
produce the same results, the vowel sound present in "Häm Säh," the "ah" sound, is the universal power sound to help one connect with the abundance of the universe and manifest anything one desires in life.
