Mantras have
historically been viewed as phonetically designed words which create positive vibrations that have certain definite effects such as healing, imparting knowledge, bringing prosperity, creating a life event, etc. Saying
these words focused the mind on the higher self. Today, many people consider a mantra to be any affirmation or simple, positive word, phrase, or statement that helps good things happen. If we believe that mind has a
definite element in the way in which reality unfolds, there are a few simple steps to follow in selecting words that are powerful enough to manifest the unfolding of that reality or to change a current life situation or
bring about a more desirable event:1. Focus on the here and now. State your affirmation in the present tense, as if it were already happening. "I am in a wonderful home that meets all my needs."
2. Stick with the positive. State what you want, not what you don't want. "I love it when our evening begins early together," instead of "I don't want him to be late tonight."
3. Affirm only for
yourself and include others nonspecifically. "I have a beautiful relationship with all my family."
4. Be explicit in what you say. If the universe is there to give you what you want, let it know what that
is! "My job is creating all the money I need."
5. Be passionate and powerful. "The success of my book surpasses all I could have imagined."
6. Feel it. Your affirmation should engender a fabulous feeling. "I love this new job!"
7. Aim big. After you have identified a desire, believe everything is within reach. "My income this month is now
exceeding $100,000," even if it is usually $3,000.
8. Visualize your results. Vividly imagine in detail what it will look, feel, sound, and taste like to have reached your desire. Live in the moment as if
reaching this goal was your current reality.
9. Vocalize your desires. Putting a voice to your affirmation adds power. Speak them out loud, not just in your head or quietly to yourself. Shout them out loud.
10. Expect the unexpected. Release any expectations of how your goal will be accomplished; just trust that it will be. Don't care how things will be accomplished—be prepared for life to unfold in the
unexpected ways it usually does.
11. Embrace your affirmation with open arms. Clear away all negative body language when saying, singing, or dancing through your daily mantra. Take in a deep breath, get rid
of all the tension, relax, and open your arms, mind, and heart to every possibility those positive statements will bring.
The belief that words manifest our realities is not new. Mantras help us consciously
bring about everything we want to create, so why not design them correctly and see what life has in store for us?
